End of Life

Judaism holds us when we experience a loss and gives structure and grounding to the void of losing someone we love.

If you have lost a loved one or expect that a death is imminent, please contact Rabbi Lauren (rabbilauren@or-hadash.org) and let her know, so that we can support you through this process. We can join together to say the Vidui and Shema, the final prayers approaching death, and gather together to plan the funeral and the days of shiva. Our loving Chesed committee mobilizes to bring meals and words of comfort, and our chevra kadisha (burial society) will work with Dressler’s, our local Jewish funeral home, to prepare the body for burial according to Jewish tradition.
