Torah in the Woods

Have you ever wondered what happens in the Hebrew Bible after Deuteronomy - if you turn the page forward instead of flipping back to Genesis? There is a whole world of Jewish history and story and poetry that follows in the Prophets and the Writings, and this year we are setting out to explore it, joining Jews worldwide in the 929 project started by the Israeli Education Ministry. We meet every Tuesday at noon via Zoom, with sessions led by Rabbi Lauren or Dr. Amy. Come when you can, even if not every week; no experience or Hebrew knowledge is expected or required. If you've ever felt, "You know, I really should read the whole Bible sometime," now's the time. As Hillel said, "If not now, when?"

All are welcome. Click here to join the meeting.

Evening Book Club

The Confidante: The Untold Story of the Woman Who Helped Win WWII and Shape Modern America by Christopher C. Gorham

 Facilitated by Patrick Tracy

As Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s special envoy to Europe in World War II, Anna Marie Rosenberg went where the president couldn’t go. She was among the first Allied women to enter a liberated concentration camp, and stood in the Eagle’s Nest, Hitler’s mountain retreat, days after its capture. She guided the direction of the G.I. Bill of Rights and the Manhattan Project. Though Anna Rosenberg emerged from modest immigrant beginnings, equipped with only a high school education, she was the real power behind national policies critical to America winning the war and prospering afterward. Astonishingly, her life ran parallel to the front lines of history, yet her influence on the 20th century America, from the New Deal to the Cold War an beyond, has never before been told.

Please RSVP for dinner. There is NO cost to attend.  Kosher, dairy pot luck with Hungarian theme (Anna Marie Rosenberg was a Hungarian immigrant). Program begins at 7:00pm

If you are interested in "limited zoom" -- please send me an email at sdalmat@gmail.com and we will make the arrangements.
