Torah in the Woods
Have you ever wondered what happens in the Hebrew Bible after Deuteronomy - if you turn the page forward instead of flipping back to Genesis? There is a whole world of Jewish history and story and poetry that follows in the Prophets and the Writings, and this year we are setting out to explore it, joining Jews worldwide in the 929 project started by the Israeli Education Ministry. We meet every Tuesday at noon via Zoom, with sessions led by Rabbi Lauren or Dr. Amy. Come when you can, even if not every week; no experience or Hebrew knowledge is expected or required. If you've ever felt, "You know, I really should read the whole Bible sometime," now's the time. As Hillel said, "If not now, when?"
All are welcome. Click here to join the meeting.

Resilience and Rebuilding: Kibbutz Nir Oz - A Year Later, With a Dream of Staying Together
It is unfathomable that over a year has passed since the attack on October 7, 2023. Kibbutz Nir Oz was disproportionately impacted during this massacre. According to the government's Impact Criteria Report published in July 29, 2024, Nir Oz suffered a staggering 25.65% casualty rate per population, the highest among the affected communities.
A community from Nir Oz cannot go back to the 'bloody streets' of their kibbutz. 55 families have made the decision to seek an alternative kibbutz to live together. This is a step toward their rehabilitation and chosen path for making a new life for themselves and their children. As a collective they will relocate to Kibbutz Beit Nir, in the northern part of the Negev. The "New" community "Staying Together" has formed an Israeli NPO chaired by survivor Mr. Chen Itzik.
Please join us at a dessert reception
Sunday, November 17th at 7:00 PM
Congregation Or Hadash
7460 Trowbridge Rd, Sandy Springs GA 30328
We invite you to meet with Chen and other survivors to learn about their story, their path forward and their greatest needs.
While we continue to hope and pray for all families impacted and for the hostages to be returned safely, please join forces with us on Sunday November 17th at 7:00PM at Congregation Or Hadash to find out how you can be a part of their recovery.

Golda Meir: Israel's Matriarch, by Deborah E. Lipstadt
Facilitated by Diane Wulfsohn
Golda Meir: Israel's Matriarch is a balanced biography of Golda Meir, who was both adored and abhorred, from award-winning author Deborah E. Lipstadt.
Golda Meir (1898–1978) was the first and only woman to serve as prime minister of Israel. She was born in Kiev into a childhood of poverty, hunger, and antisemitism. When she was five, her father left to find work in America, and a year later the family settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a teenager she became devoted to Labor Zionism, giving street-corner speeches, and her family’s home became a destination for Zionist emissaries. Her love for Labor Zionism was so fervent that her boyfriend, Morris Meyerson (her future husband), was often in competition with her dedication to the cause.
Please RSVP for dinner. There is NO cost to attend. Potluck dish is appreciated. Potluck Dinner begins at 6:30pm. Kosher, dairy Israeli cuisine, please. Let us know what you plan to bring. Program begins at 7:00pm
If you are interested in "limited zoom" -- please send me an email at sdalmat@gmail.com and we will make the arrangements.
