Musical Kabbalat Shabbat/Yom Ha’atzmaut

Please join us for a special service welcoming Shabbat and celebrating Yom HaAtzmaut! We make music together every week, but this week will be an ESPECIALLY musical service, bringing over a dozen Or Hadash musicians to our bima - singers and instrumentalists; children, teens, and adults. We will be serving heavy appetizers before services for the younger kids that need something to tide them over, and dinner afterwards for everyone else (for a nominal fee). Please RSVP if you will join us for dinner.

We will be joined during services by Rabbi Arie Hasit, the Associate Director of the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary in Jerusalem. For all who want to speak with Rabbi Hasit about the proposed Israeli judiciary overhaul and the current political climate in Israel, please join us for a casual conversation at 6pm before services over Israeli wine!

Rabbi Hasit was ordained by the Schechter Rabbinical Seminary in 2016 and was in the second cohort of the Mishlei program. Prior, he served six years as the founding rabbi and CEO of 70 Faces — Mazkeret Batya, a unique community that promotes the values of Masorti Judaism and religious pluralism in the public sphere.

Rabbi Hasit volunteers as co-chair of the Masorti Movement’s Youth Committee and as a member of the Law Committee for the Israeli Rabbinical Assembly. He lives in Mazkeret Batya with his wife, Sara Tova Brody and their two children.
