It is unfathomable that over a year has passed since the attack on October 7, 2023. Kibbutz Nir Oz was disproportionately impacted during this massacre. According to the government's Impact Criteria Report published in July 29, 2024, Nir Oz suffered a staggering 25.65% casualty rate per population, the highest among the affected communities.
A community from Nir Oz cannot go back to the 'bloody streets' of their kibbutz. 55 families have made the decision to seek an alternative kibbutz to live together. This is a step toward their rehabilitation and chosen path for making a new life for themselves and their children. As a collective they will relocate to Kibbutz Beit Nir, in the northern part of the Negev. The "New" community "Staying Together" has formed an Israeli NPO chaired by survivor Mr. Chen Itzik.
