On December 1, 2016, Atlantan Shai (pronounced “shy”) Robkin donated a kidney to someone he did not know until after the transplant was completed. Shai will discuss what led him to become a non-directed (“altruistic”) kidney donor, how the National Kidney Registry matches donors and recipients, the surgical process, and his post-surgical recuperation. He will also explain how your kidney donation this year can serve as kidney transplant “insurance” for members of your family, should any of them be in need of a kidney at some point in the future.
