The words we chose for our guiding metaphor this season, “like clay,” are taken directly from a Yom Kippur piyyut that imagines God as an artisan in every type of artistic medium. Created in the image of God, charged with the care of God’s Creation, we can certainly imagine ourselves to be artisans of our daily lives, too. Or are we the clay in the hands of the Potter? Or is it both? Join Rabbi Lauren and Dr. Amy as we explore the metaphor of “clay” as it lives within Jewish ideas of Creation and creators, control and artistry, changeability and fixedness. We will be working directly with clay and other artistic media, but no experience is expected or required. Come to one session or both; sessions will be independent of one another.
